weekly wtf

WhatTF Beyonce?  Why is every song and every video and every thing she does so damn annoying?
WhyTF are boys still so confusing?  I know, this was here last week, but it bears repeating.

That's it!

Where I post a list of the things that made me gnash my teeth over the past week.

WhatTF is up that with that kid that ran into me with his bike while exiting his building, eating a cookie and looking the other direction?
WhenTF will Lady Gaga stop making bat-shit-crazy music videos?
WhyTF don't boys come with instruction manuals?  And by 'boys' I mean 'grown men'.

new favourite place

I generally try to fill my empty days with long walks. One I do frequently involves taking a 20-minute bus ride to the mall. Since I have no money, I don't actually enter the mall; I just walk home. It's a long walk down one street (but with at least four different street names - welcome to Berlin).

Today, I mixed things up. When I looked at my map to plan a new, longer, route home, I noticed that there were about six little parks one block east of my usual street.  I thought this would make for a nice change, and a possible break to stop and read.

I discovered the greatest little hideaway! There is a staircase down from street level and a square man-made lake with small fountains.  To complete this bit of heaven, there is a restaurant on one side of the lake and benches and grass along the others.

At first, I just walked around it, at street level, since the benches appeared to be in the sun. And then I saw one in full shade - under an arbour! - and I made my way down. It was lovely!

I apologize for the quality of the pictures, but, you know, my camera broke! So these are all taken with my phone.

My view of the lake and the restaurant opposite my arbour.
My arbour!  Yes, I've claimed it.
The plants growing from the roof of my arbour.
There was a nice breeze today.  And the dandelion seeds chose today to free themselves and float around. I had the pleasure of inhaling two up my nose. Here is where a few of them fell to earth.

At the end of my park walk was this lovely parkette, which I first noticed on my walk yesterday. There were probably eight of these trees surrounding four benches. Why they would keep the trunks when all of the leaves and boughs are missing, I don't know. But I like the look of them!

And there was a tree nearby that gave off a lovely smell of grapes.  I plan to return soon!
